Upwey Ferntree Gully Baseball Club will host the third Little League State Championship to be held from 9-11 April 2010.
Little League took Victorian baseball by storm during 2008, with the State Championship being the first of three stages that could see a Victorian team making it all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport Pennsylvania.
Played by an estimated eighty million youngsters around the world, Little League provides the unique opportunity for a neighbourhood baseball club to play together - and, importantly, to stay together - along an exciting and challenging journey in which each member of the team is nurtured and encouraged as an integral part of the group.
Waverley Wildcats won the first two State Championships to qualify for the National Championships. In 2009, Waverley made it through the national event and went on to represent Australia at the Little League Asia-Pacific Championships in Chinese Taipei.
Five teams will again be contesting the State Championship - Eastern Kangaroos, South-East Mariners, Melbourne West Giants, Waverley Wildcats, North-East Sluggers with the winner joining Ringwood District (winter Little League champion) to compete in the National Little League Championships later in the year.
